Love is in the Air Sleepover and Giveaway
ANABEL AXELROD IS BACK…
…and so is Luke Drake!
First it was Her Turn. Now it is His Turn.
Anabel’s life was sizzling, but now it’s red hot! Can she handle the heat?
Courted by Karma is the second volume in The Adventures of Anabel Axelrod. The story picks up where A Date with Fate left us hanging on Tuesday night at 11:59 PM.
After her last crazy few days, Anabel’s hell bent on having nothing but a good time during the traditional upcoming Axelrod Women Weekend. Cousin Layla and some friends are flying in from Florida for a visit. Despite Chief Jack’s warning not to call him this year if they end up in jail again, the women plan to rock the town!
But first our girl has to survive some Russians, some Mexicans, some Parents, Thanksgiving, and her biggest challenge ever…Luke Drake.
And Mr. Secretive has plans of his own.
Will it ever be Our Turn for Luke and Anabel, or is it her karma to get burned by the smokin’ hot flames?
Author’s note: This story is for mature audiences. This series is sequential. For the optimum reading experience, please read A Date with Fate first and then Courted by Karma.
My Review (FIVE stars of coarse)
Were you left with your mind reeling wanting to know just who that was at the end of A Date with Fate and just what exactly was in that black bag that is "his turn"? Well, you will find out.... Man was I elated the way things played out! I stood on the sidelines with my pom-poms cheering for Anabel and Luke. Anabel returns as sassy as ever and full of excitement. Just when you thought she had enough excitement for one weekend, you will get to take another roller coaster of a ride again! Wouldn't we all want to be in Anabel's shoes? And Luke? Whoa! Swoon! Luke is definitely a man we all would want! Tall, dark and secretive he is! Now, I will warn you, Svette is back. Ugh, but the story wouldn't be complete without her whining and pining over Luke, now would it? We get to see a little more of the elusive John. I think I might kind of like him. Not sure... maybe just a little.
You will not be disappointed in this chapter of Anabel and Luke's story. You will laugh. You will get mad, maybe want to slap a bitch or two. Then you may laugh some more. You may even find yourself daydreaming about Bob aka Crookie. I know I did, a little. There is so much good about this book, but I cannot tell you any of it.... I will give too much away. You will have to find out for yourself what is in store for this group of people who have more going on than the Bunny Ranch on a two-for-one special night!
A little bit about Tracy Ellen...
You readers would like to know how you came up with the concept for Anabel’s story...
The nearest I can figure out is the concept of Anabel Katrina Axelrod was born on a day that I must have been really feeling sorry for myself. Anabel was originally going to be a big fat slut. I know, how fun, right?
Please do not think too harshly of me for these filthy thoughts, Amber, because I’ve faithfully been with the same man since I was seventeen, and most of the time that’s a good thing. But there’s no denying the facts. My poor inner sex kitten never came out to play around in my twenties with five, ten or maybe two hundred different men. (Don’t worry, I don’t think I mean all at once.)
<Big Sigh> Alas, even now in the comfort of my own hedonistic imagination, Anabel insisted on being a big fat slut with just one man. I then had to write the man that Anabel thought deserved that kind of lustful devotion.
AND I’ve always daydreamed of owning a used bookstore. My idea of a slice of heaven on earth!
My two-cents: So are you saying that your inner-sex kitten is a fat slut? HAHA! I couldn't help that. I think you may have walked into that one! LOL.
How did you develop the characters? Do any of them depict anyone you know personally?
Oh sure, some of them depict real people, but only very, very loosely. So far, <knock on anything that looks like wood> they’re all still talking to me in real life. The bad guys I totally make up. I swear. And Luke? Ah, Luke is a long story…
My two-cents: Luke.... well, we don't need the whole story on him. He is the guy we go to sleep at night thinking of... Who wakes us up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat.... The story on him could possibly ruin those dreams? Ja?
How hard is it to accomplish two books in such a short amount of time? Most authors take a lot longer to get their next book out.
I think it must have been very hard since neither of them are short books, but truthfully? I loved every single minute of writing them both, so the time just flew. A Date with Fate will always be special for being my first attempt at writing. Courted by Karma was a real blast to write since I felt a little more confident about what I was doing. It was pretty intense and I was a writer possessed, but I also have this really kick-ass new editing team… <nudge nudge>
My two-cents: Yeah, I will have to say, after reading your books, you must have some great behind-the-scenes people.... Just sayin. lol.
How does your family deal with your day-time job and writing? Do they ever feel neglected?
I am lucky to have the best, most supportive husband in the solar system. First, it started out that he had a chair near my desk where I write. Then I got him a bigger, more comfy chair, since he’s a big, tall, muscular man. Then I put in a little side table for his drink. Then a stool appeared for his feet, and a small pillow for his head. This is for when he leans back, closes his eyes, and listens to me read my latest chapter out loud to him. The rest of the time, he is totally neglected. My daughter probably wishes I neglected her.
My two-cents: So, you pamper your husband? I bet my boyfriend wishes I would take some pointers from you! HAHA...
When you sit down to read, what kind of books do you prefer?
See if you have better luck than me making sense of this answer. I love and write romantic comedy, but for the last two years, TWO YEARS, I have been reading nonstop zombie/apocalypse. I can’t get enough of this adrenaline spiking gore-fest. I really, really, really want to write a zombie book. Some day…
My two-cents: Anabel and Luke get turned into zombies? WHAT? Hehe.... That would be interesting to mix the two!
What is your favorite book or books?
Ah man, you are a true Mistress of Pain! This is a very good, but super-hard question. <face scrunched> Okay, for an American classic, I love “To Kill a Mockingbird” by Harper Lee, for the European classic I’d say, “The Count of Monte Cristo” by Alexandre Dumas or “Pride and Prejudice” By Jane Austen. For fun romance there are hundreds, but I love an older, romantic comedy titled “Heaven, Texas” by Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I also love anything written by Jennifer Crusie, Loretta Chase, and Lisa Kleypas. I could go on forever…
My two-cents: I will admit, I, myself, am a literature fan at heart. I absolutely adore everything F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote. I am with you on Jane Austin. She was soooo ahead of her time with her books!
Do you like to watch a movie after you have read the book?
I do, although I find it’s a rare thing when one resembles the other. But when it does—it’s a very satisfying moment to say afterwards (around my mouthful of popcorn and Reeses Pieces), “Wow! That movie did a great job following the book!”
I can’t even think of one movie off the top that has lately, can you? (I am breathlessly anticipating World War Z. You know the zombie genre has arrived when Brad Pitt is starring.)
My two-cents: Well, A Girl with a Dragon Tattoo.... Not a good movie. Considering I read the book first! If you read that book, then watch the movie, you may throw things at the TV. I shut if off it made me so mad. It was not a good adaptation at all. I am excited to see Home Run next month. Yes, I read the book. And I don't like to read a book then watch the movie. However, the book was written based on the book and not the other way around. I am hoping that is a good thing!
What movies do you watch when you want a good scare?
Movies with numbers in them…Twenty-Eight Days Later, Thirty Days of Night, Se7en, The Sixth Sense, Three Men and a Baby.
My two cents: The Sixth Sense is a great movie! I liked Three Men and a Baby when I was younger, but I can't seem to make it through the entire movie these days. I am a big Saw fan. The scarier, the better. You should write a zombie, thriller about Anabel and Luke! hehe
If you could be any character from a book or movie, who would it be?
<fingers drumming> Well, I wouldn’t mind being Scarlett O’Hara for a minute, not that I particularly liked her. In fact, after seeing Gone with the Wind for the first time at age eleven, I was in angst afterwards like you wouldn’t believe. My worry was if I had lived back in pre-civil war days, would I have been a mean, pinching, slave-owner mistress or been brave enough to stand up and run an underground railroad? Why? So that damn book can end right for a change! Rhett Butler is such a delicious man. He’s witty, he’s sexy hot, he carries Scarlett around, and he buys Mammy presents!! Ashley Wilkes is such a weenie—doesn’t he mope around a lot all bummed out? And Scarlett is so THICK, despite the disgusting eighteen inch waist! No wonder I am always tempted to not write HEA’s. It’s all Margaret Mitchell’s fault. That book scarred me for life.
What would you say is your biggest accomplishment?
My daughter. She’s an amazing miracle, and I pinky swear that I am not biased.
**Sorry, I am not good at “interviewing” :)
What did you say??!! Your questions are the bomb! You’re awesome! You’re incredible! You made me think!
Okay, that’s IT, my friend!! Before you can go to sleep tonight, you must admit you give good interview or I’ll jump and dance on the bed ALL NIGHT. Or much worse yet, SING. I’m not kidding—I think I can do this! This could very well be the worst sleepover you’ve ever had in your life!
Umm…one question for you that I’m curious to know the answer to for no particular reason: Who is your favorite female singer?
My favorite singer? Well.... you of coarse! HAHA! That is a good question! It depends on my mood! Sometimes I want a little country. With that, I want some Toby Keith. Sometimes I want some new age R&b. So that would usually be Usher. Sometimes I want a good dance beat or hip-hop. That would be anything that I can shake my booty to!
