Blog Tour and Giveaway: Party Girl by Rachel Hollis

Landon Brinkley is making her dreams come true. After years of poring over glossy photos of celebrity parties in People and US Weekly, she’s landed her Holy Grail: an internship with the fabulous Selah Smith, event planner to the Hollywood elite. Moving from small town Texas to Los Angeles, Landon finds herself in a world in which spending a million dollars on an event – even for kids’ birthdays – is de rigueur. The thrill of working on A-list parties and celeb weddings is enough to get her through the 75-hour workweeks, the nightmare of a multi-day film festival, and abuse at the hands of a mercurial boss. But confronted with the seamy realities of the business, she is forced to make a choice: do whatever it takes to get ahead, or stay true to herself.

A roman a clef in the vein of The Devil Wears Prada, PARTY GIRL draws on the author’s real life experience for an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at the celebrity-obsessed world of event planning. From the party habits of America’s favorite underage singer to the worst Bridezilla of all (the kind that graces the cover of your favorite magazine), PARTY GIRL reveals the ugly side of Hollywood’s prettiest parties.

This book is definitely a one-of-a-kind story.  I haven't come across another story quite like it.  The plot is unique and engaging.  I didn't want to put this one down!

Lauren has moved to L.A. in hopes of making her dreams come true.  In the process, she gets a crash course in just how cruel and demanding the world, well at least L.A., can be!  She has entered a world of ass-kissing, people pleasing, back-stabbing, under-handing, fake it til you make it people.  And all of this in just any typical day of work.

Lauren may seem naive, but she is strong willed enough to tough out the toughest and cruelest days.  She is all too willing to not only make a good impression but succeed in the party event world.

Selah is the devil incarnate herself.  She is ruthless and selfish.  She is the master manipulator and dragon lady.  Her character is one that you will not enjoy, but will pray someone takes her down at some point!

With the long hours of party planning to L.A.'s elite, friendships and love may be found... or not.  Nothing or no one is ever what it seems.  Lauren finds this out the hard way... but will she still come out on top with those who she has grown close to and now consider part of her family.

This book will keep you entertained all of the way through.  You will laugh, cringe, yell and sigh simultaneously in many parts.  Rooting for the small town girl is always a plus!
