DARCYVILLE...where stupidity is celebrated...with a deadly dose of sin.

Sometimes life smacks you right in the kisser with a whole lot of ohhhh craaaaap.

Just ask Darcy Walker.

100 Proof Stud picks up four months after No Brainer's cliffhanger ending, and Darcy discovers the aftermath pales in comparison to the crisis her heart is in. All of a sudden it's raining men, and this teenage heroine’s personal life turns her inside out.

Before she can sort out her feelings, she chases a spray-painting vandal and stumbles upon a case of identity theft right in her own backyard. Darcy jumps into the fray headfirst to prove she can hang with the big boys.

But it’s not just to hang…nope, she’s chasing reward money.

Tapping her band of misfit brothers for help, she turns Valley upside down trying to unearth the criminals. Problem is, the cloak and dagger goes high-octane, and she raises the bar on “crazy" in the process.

Bullets ring out…dead bodies appear…and Darcy rubs shoulders with the ultimate sociopath. In the midst of murder and mayhem, will she finally follow her heart or build a fortress of lies around it? Will she even get the chance?

What made this book stand out:  This is the third book in a series.  Darcy Walker is a character that you cannot help but to fawn over.  She is witty, lovable, sarcastic, devious, mischievous, adventurous and a typical teenager.  She loves getting herself mixed up into stuff she has no business getting herself into.  She makes for one of the funniest characters of the year!

The first time it happened, it seemed like an impossible miracle. Bills were piling up, adding up to more money than I could ever make. Mom's hospital bills. My baby brother's tuition. My tuition. Rent. Electricity. All of it on my shoulders. And I had just lost my job. There was no hope, no money in my account, no work to be found. And then, just when I thought all hope was lost, I found an envelope in the mail. No return address. My name on the front, my address. Inside was a check, made out to me, in the amount of ten thousand dollars. Enough to pay the bills and leave me some left over to live on until I found a job. Enough to let me focus on classes. There was no name on the check, just "VRI Inc.," and a post office box address for somewhere in the city. No hint of identity or reason for the check or anything. No mention of repayment, interest, nothing…except a single word, on the notes line: "You." Just those three letters.

If you receive a mysterious check, for enough money to erase all your worries, would you cash it?

I did.

The next month, I received another check, again from VRI Incorporated. It too contained a single word: "belong."

A third check, the next month. This time, two words. Four letters. "To me."

The checks kept coming. The notes stopped. Ten thousand dollars, every month. A girl gets used to that, real quick. It let me pay the bills without going into debt. Let me keep my baby brother in school and Mom's hospice care paid for. How do you turn down what seems like free money, when you're desperate? You don't. I didn't.

And then, after a year, there was a knock on my door. A sleek black limousine sat on the curb in front of my house. A driver stood in front of me, and he spoke six words: "It's time to pay your debt."

Would you have gotten in?

I did.

It turns out $120,000 doesn't come free.

What made this book stand out:  This is one of those unique books that you can't tear yourself away from!  It's so original and jaw-dropping, how can you not love it?  It's disturbing, which I absolutely long for in a book.  But it is disturbing in such a different way, it stands out from other books.  I couldn't stop thinking about this book for days!

They say when you take revenge against another you lose a part of your innocence.
But I’m not innocent.
I haven’t been for a very long time.
My innocence was stolen from me. Taken was the life I was supposed to have. The soul I was born with. The ruby heart embedded in a life full of hopes and dreams.

I never even had a choice.
I mourn that life. Mourn the what-ifs.
Until now.
I’m ready to take back what was always meant to be mine.

But every plan has a fatal flaw. Sometimes it’s the heart.

The top-selling, beloved indie author of Ten Tiny Breaths returns with a new romance about a young woman who loses her memory—and the man who knows that the only way to protect her is to stay away.

Left for dead in the fields of rural Oregon, a young woman defies all odds and survives—but she awakens with no idea who she is, or what happened to her. Refusing to answer to “Jane Doe” for another day, the woman renames herself “Water” for the tiny, hidden marking on her body—the only clue to her past. Taken in by old Ginny Fitzgerald, a crotchety but kind lady living on a nearby horse farm, Water slowly begins building a new life. But as she attempts to piece together the fleeting slivers of her memory, more questions emerge: Who is the next-door neighbor, quietly toiling under the hood of his Barracuda? Why won’t Ginny let him step foot on her property? And why does Water feel she recognizes him?

Twenty-four-year-old Jesse Welles doesn’t know how long it will be before Water gets her memory back. For her sake, Jesse hopes the answer is never. He knows that she’ll stay so much safer—and happier—that way. And that’s why, as hard as it is, he needs to keep his distance. Because getting too close could flood her with realities better left buried.

The trouble is, water always seems to find its way to the surface.

What made this book stand out:  There are always those authors you can count on to give you unique, twisted stories.  Pepper is always one of those authors!  This book is no different than the others she has written when it comes to unique and twisted!  I was unsure of this in the beginning.  It was so twisted, I almost put it down.  But I kept on going because that it was I wanted, but that didn't make this any easier to read.  It is dark and will most likely (if it hasn't already) offend some, which is awesome in my opinion!  Kudos Pepper!

“You say I’ll never own you. If I win—you willingly give me that right. You sign not only the debt agreement, but another—one that makes me your master until your last breath is taken. You do that, and I’ll give you this.”

Nila Weaver’s family is indebted. Stolen, taken, and bound not by monsters but by an agreement written over six hundred years ago, she has no way out.

She belongs to Jethro as much as she denies it.

Jethro Hawk’s patience is running out. His inheritance gift tests, challenges, and surprises him—and not in good ways. He hasn’t leashed her but he thinks he might’ve found a way to bind her forever.

Debts are mounting. Payment waiting.

What made this book stand out:  I don't think I will get tired of this series.  It just gets more and more fucked up!  Just when you think that Pepper can't possibly top herself, her next book comes out.  You are left sitting there salivating, anticipating the next page.  Now anticipating the next book!  I can't imagine where the next book will take me after this one!  I was so into this book, I lived and breathed it.  The cat and mouse game of this story will have you pissed off to no end!  F-ing fantastic!

What made this book stand out:  This was the second book of Francette's that I read this past year.  She is pure genius.  Let me say, if you see her name on a book, chances are you should read it!  Such an inventive storyline!  Who wouldn't want to read about a crazy hitman who butchers people and a high school hooker?  I mean, seriously, that is a recipe for a hit!

What made this book stand out:  This is a story haunted me for days!  I wanted to go reread the ending in hopes that it would change if I read it again.  This is one of those books, even though you pretty much know the ending, you pray that it magically turns out differently.  I was praying and rooting for Marley the whole way through the book.  The ending gutted me, even though I knew what the final outcome would be at some point.

What made this story stand out:  This isn't your typical suspense mystery.  It's a combination of different genres, it is in a class of its own!  I paced myself with it, and I couldn't have been more pleased.  Sarah has so much talent!  This story is awesome.  I figured out who, but not the why, in the second book.  I kept running through the whodunit and whys all of the way through the trilogy.  I still find myself in la-la land now and then thinking about it!

What made this book stand out:  I have never been a fan of sci-fi, but I had to indulge.  It's the Big O for Jimminy Cricket's sake!  I am glad I did.  This is one of those books where you may not understand it in some spots, but you keep on going knowing you will get it eventually.  Government conspiracies, love and lies.... Yes this book had me mentally turning the page before it was time to.  I couldn't wait for the ending.  I needed to know who was the bad guy, who was the good guy... What I got, I wasn't expecting.  I can't wait for more!

Her name is Emery Shaw...Emily Sanders...Emma Simpson...Ericka Smith.
Her family was well off, she ran.
They looked for her, she hid.
They found her, she ran again.
Tragedy strikes, she gets even.

The fact is, she doesn’t know who she is, she tried to run, to hide and make a life for herself, but that backfired. No one knows her except her best friend Rachel, if that’s even an adequate word for what they are to each other. Rachel helps her build a life for herself below the radar, which is fine until the unthinkable happens knocking Em out of her unfeeling cocoon. When her house of cards comes tumbling down she runs again, until the one person who can change her mind finds her.

Due to adult situations, language and possible scenarios that may be difficult for some readers to handle, take a breath before you start this one. It’s gritty and not pretty. Nothing is pretty here. Whiskey is a good thing.

What made this book stand out:  This is one of those books where not everything is as it seems.  With that, this book took some turns that I didn't see coming.  Rellik is that character, who is believed to be the bad guy, is in fact my hero.  He is bad ass and is determined.  I waited for this book for some time, and I couldn't have been more pleased.

What made this book stand out:  Tara introduced us to a whole new list of hilarious characters this past year.  This series is yet another reason we love Tara's books.  More foul-mouth, quick-witted cast of characters had me laughing all of the way through!

Love hurts...

When aspiring writer Guinevere Beck strides into the East Village bookstore where Joe works, he’s instantly smitten. Beck is everything Joe has ever wanted: She’s gorgeous, tough, razor-smart, and as sexy as his wildest dreams.

Beck doesn’t know it yet, but she’s perfect for him, and soon she can’t resist her feelings for a guy who seems custom made for her. But there’s more to Joe than Beck realizes, and much more to Beck than her oh-so-perfect fa├žade. Their mutual obsession quickly spirals into a whirlwind of deadly consequences . . .

A chilling account of unrelenting passion, Caroline Kepnes’s You is a perversely romantic thriller that’s more dangerously clever than any you’ve read before.

My Rating:  5 Stars
What made this book stand out:  I am going to give you my full review on this one.... First I want to start off telling you that this is one of those books that you will either not like or LOVE! I LOVED it. It isn't your every day run-of-the-mill book. It's a deep and twisted psychological driven book.

It's twisted and fucked up! For some, it may be hard to follow. I will tell you why... First, the writing style isn't what your normal reader is used to. It truly takes talent to write an entire book in second-person. With the second-person writing comes the pop culture aspect. Caroline uses so many pop culture references, I even didn't get all of them. And I am pretty sure I should have. Then you have the mental state of the main characters.

Joe, is obviously disturbed. I spent a greater part of the book trying to diagnose him. He is so messed up in the head. However, Beck doesn't really have all of her screws either. After all, she becomes close with her stalker... And in some ways, once she realizes he has been stalking her, she seems half okay with it.

This book is a journey with an ending. I say it that way for a reason. It's not necessarily happy or sad or earth shattering.

If I had to categorize this book, it would be in the MUST READ FUCKED UP book category. Since that category only exists in my head, I would say it's part new adult and part psychological thriller. I read this book about a month ago, and I still find myself daydreaming about it with the confused head tilt. No lie!
