My 4-Star Review

Tia has done it again!  I am impressed to see a standalone series make it to book six and not be redundant.  By now, I would be nodding off and cursing myself for continuing a series that has lasted this long.  Instead, I am anticipating what she will give us next!

Derek and Melissa.  We have seen them before, but not like this.  We had them in the beginning, and we have watched them through the other stories... You wouldn't expect this explosive chapter in their lives.

This isn't your average love story.... If you think you will get rainbows and unicorns leading up to this couple's wedding, you are sadly mistaken!  What you will get is heart-pounding, heart-breaking drama.  The events that have lead up to this book have laid a path of destruction for these two characters.  Lies.  Secrets.  Blackmailing.  It's all in this story.

I have to admit, I was not a fan of Melissa many times in this story.  I felt she was impetuous and rash.  The secrets Derek chose to keep to himself were not malicious or deceitful.  Her character wasn't able to separate from work and personal lives.  Although the secrets effected her, they were necessary.  Her actions were impulsive and somewhat selfish.

I loved Derek in this story.  Everyone keeps throwing out the term "alpha male" like it's going to reel you in to reading a book.  Personally, I don't like the term.  It usually turns me away from reading a book.  I will not use it to describe Derek.  He is a strong-willed male.  He loves his family and will do anything to keep them.  He is the protector of those near and dear to him.  His heart is always in the right place, even when he is unwilling to let his tough exterior down.

I highly recommend this book, even if you haven't read the other books.  Although I do recommend reading the others.  They will give you pieces to the puzzle that is this book.  Kudos to you Tia.  Another successful book under your belt!
