Five Christmases ago, I begged my (now) husband for a Kindle Fire. He didn't understand why I wanted one. I didn't really read anymore back then. He just thought I wanted it because of my always wanting new technology. But it wasn't that. I was seeing how much cheaper eBooks were and I was longing to read, a lot. Of coarse, me being spoiled, he bought me one for Christmas.

And so it began. For the next year I read book after book after book. Some good. Some really bad. I didn't really care. I was absorbing all of the words and couldn't have been happier. At one point, I just didn't know what to read. There were so many books at my disposal, but I wanted that next great book. I stumbled across of a few book blogs. Many were talking about the same books, so I went and 1-clicked. And then 1-clicked some more... You get my drift.

Exactly one year after I got my Kindle, I woke up and decided I wanted to share my love for reading with everyone. So, I started my own blog. At first, I had no clue what I was doing. I was just trying to figure out how to write reviews and get people to read them.

I quickly found out how the "book world" worked. Everyone, for the most part, supported one another. I was connecting with other bloggers, authors and readers. I was so over the moon at how quickly I was welcomed and embraced. It became an addiction.

Over time, my blog grew and grew. I am not blind to how my blog grew. It was because of authors, readers and bloggers, not just me. That is what this post is really about. A big thank you to everyone for following me, supporting me, reading my reviews.

How do I measure the success of my blog? Not by the number of "followers" I have. Definitely not by the dollars I make, since I make NONE. But by the support and love from the community itself. A big part of that is the authors. If I didn't have support from authors, I wouldn't have a blog. It really is that simple. Even if no one read my reviews, I would still have the authors.

Now comes the reason for the title of this post... Nostalgic. I sat on my porch last night, daydreaming. All of a sudden I was thinking about the authors who took a chance on me... although they thought I was taking a chance on them. Maybe it was a little bit of both.

I think back to the authors that were just starting out, just as I was. They just wanted people to read their books, and I just wanted to read all of the books. It was a win-win for both of us. I was new. They were new. We fit. Now, I sit back and look at how successful each and everyone of them are and I have to smile.

Although I love every author I have come in contact with over the years, these are the authors that I will always read and support no matter what. They hold a special place in my heart. We were trying to be seen and heard at the same time. Without the support of each other, that would not have been possible.

Now that I have completely bored you to death, I just want to share with you some of the authors I am talking about, so you can see I really am not just a rambling fool right now...

Before I tell you who these authors are, just know that these aren't the only authors that I adore. They aren't the only authors that I will always read and support. They aren't all of the authors who I have read since their beginning. These are the authors who were new when I was new... Who either messaged me asking me to take a chance of their book, or I signed up with a promotions company to take a chance on their new book in my first year of blogging! So basically, we started out together. I may forget one or two. It was a reading-filled year!!!
