Eleanor & Grey by Brittainy C. Cherry

Greyson East left his mark on me.

As the young girl who first fell for him, I didn’t know much about life. I did know about his smiles, though, and his laughs, and the strange way my stomach flipped when he was near.

Life was perfect…until it wasn’t, and when we were forced to go our separate ways, I held on to our memories, let go of my first crush, and wished for the day I’d find him again.

When my wish came true, it was nothing like I imagined.

I couldn’t have known when I took the nanny position that it would be his children I looked after, that my new boss would be that boy I used to know, that boy who was now a man—a cold, lonely, detached man.

The smile and laugh I had loved so much were gone, now distant memories. Every part of him was covered in a fresh pain.

When he realized who I was, he made me promise to do my job and my job only. He made me promise not to try to get to know him, not to recall the memories I’d treasured all this time.

But, sometimes, I saw the boy I’d once known in his stormy eyes. I saw the Greyson who smiled and laughed, who had stolen a young girl’s heart, and there was no doubt in my mind that this boy was worth fighting for.

I was given a second chance with the one who’d left his mark on me. All I hoped was that somehow I’d leave a mark on his soul, too.

5. Tissues

I want to start this review off by stating that I am not a crier when it comes to books. I can count on one hand the amount of times a book has pulled enough emotions out of me to make me cry.

Eleanor & Grey GUTTED ME! Like the type of crying where the tears don’t stop, your chest hurts and it’s so hard to catch your breath. The Prologue alone opened up my chest and ripped my heart out.

This book is about hope, love, loss, life, death and friendship.

When we first met Ellie and Grey, they are teenagers whose worlds are getting flipped upside down. Ellie is such an incredibly strong teenage character. I love her innocence, outlook on life and the strength within her when her heart is so broken. I loved the openness between Ellie and her parents, even though I was cringing along with her sometimes. Lol

Grey comes from a family that has everything except what means the most to him. Regardless of everything he is going through, he doesn’t let the negativity of the world affect the person he is deep within. He was perfect! I kept thinking, “Wow, if he is this perfect now, I can only imagine the type of man he is going to become.”

Ellie & Grey’s friendship came at the most perfect time for one another. They both found something they weren’t looking for but desperately needed.

Then time moves on and we get to read these wonderful characters as adults. Their journey is a tough one but so worth it. It is a rollercoaster of emotions. There are so many parts of this book I want to talk about in this review but SPOILERS! Nope! You won’t find any here! I cannot wait for my friends to read it so we can discuss it.

I have read most of Brittainy’s previous books but this one has become my all time favorite of hers! Brittainy’s writing is flawless and her words always touch deep within your soul.

Eleanor & Grey is a MUST READ!! It is a Top 2019 book for me! And remember everyone…..TISSUES ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS BOOK!!!
