“Because I came from you, does that mean I’m capable of killing? That I’ll be addicted to blood? That I’ll get off on torturing people?”
The kid had questions. I didn’t blame him. He’d only heard one side, and it wasn’t mine.
“Why did you hate my mother?”
Now, that was a story worth telling. But, to do that, I had to bring the kid back to the very beginning. When the killing and the blood and the torture had all started. When I was truly happy. When I was first called a Monster.
Monster is a follow-up to Animal. Animal must be read first.
WARNING* Monster is an extremely dark novel. There are strong sexual themes, drug usage, physical and sexual abuse, and torture that could trigger and/or cause emotional suffering.
****4 Twisted Stars****
Let me start this off by saying Monster is the darkest book out of the three in my opinion. (Prisioned, Animal and Monster).
One word that can be used to describe Shank is PHYSCO!!! It hurt my stomach to read some of his craziness but I couldn't look away or flip the pages fast enough!
I didn't know how or if he would ever redeem himself but I couldn't wait to see if he did! I didn't know what to make of Huck or Arin. I didn't trust anyone in this book but I wanted to believe they were good. Was I right?!?! 🤷♀️🤯
You don't know where this story is going while reading. You just devour the pages and try to connect the pieces together but still have no clue!
The more I read, the worse my anxiety got. I knew something was lurking on the upcoming pages. I was waiting for that big "AHA, I GOT YOU MARNI MOMENT!" Damn did Marni make you wait for the most perfect time!
My mind is blown having just finished this book! You got me again, Marni!!
