Review: Block Shot by Kennedy Ryan

An enemies-to-lovers second chance standalone romance set in the cutthroat world of sports management.  . They're two sharks in a fish tank... .

If I had a dollar for every time Banner Morales made my heart skip a beat...

The heart everyone assumes is frozen over.

Her anger is . . . arousing.

Every glare from those fire-spitting eyes, every time she grits her teeth, gets me . . .well, you know.

If I had a dollar for every time she's put me in my place, I'd be an even richer man.

I'm a successful sports agent because I assume "no" means you'll think about it.

I'm sure what you meant to say is "Coming right up."

They say even rich men don't always get what they want,

but those men don't know how to play the game. The trick is to keep them guessing.

Take Banner. She assumes she's winning, but this game?

She doesn't even know how to play. .

If I had a dollar for every time Jared Foster broke my heart, I'd have exactly one dollar.

One night. One epic fail. One dollar . . . and I'm out.

I've moved on.

I've found success in a field ruled by men.

Anything they can do, I have done better.

They can keep the field while I call the shots, blocking them when I have to.

And Jared has the nerve to think he gets a second chance?

Boy, please. Go sit down. Have several seats.

I'll just be over here ignoring the man carved from my fantasies with a lust-tipped chisel.

Oh, I didn't say the struggle wasn't real.

But I've got that one dollar, and Jared won't have me.

**** 4 STAR REVIEW****

Oh how I love me some Kennedy Ryan books! She has become an instant one-click author for me!

Block Shot was a great read!! It is the second book in the Hoops series but can be read as a complete standalone. However, I highly recommend reading Long Shot too!

I want to talk about Banner first. Banner is my girl crush right now! I love a strong, independent, take no crap heroine! Banner is just like most woman of today, myself included. We walk around with so many insecurities about our physical looks and compare ourselves to the women of the world. I'm not pretty enough, I'm too skinny, I'm too thick, I'm not smart enough, etc. etc. etc! But even with her insecurities, SHE OWNS IT! She doesn't let anyone stop her from doing what she wants. She excels in her male dominated career and learns to love herself for who she is! She is strong, dedicated and real. We could learn a little something from Banner!

Banner and Jared's relationship starts out with a bang but dissolves quickly over a complete misunderstanding. Jared tried to do the right thing by Banner but got kicked to the curb instead. I felt slightly bad for Jared but I couldn't blame Banner due to the way her previous relationship ended. I would have done the same thing.

Over the next ten years, both Banner and Jared excel in their careers and are finally forced to really talk to each other again. That's when all the sparks and drama start up again!

Jared is a confident, cocky, sexy, determined man. Nothing or no one will stand in the way of what he wants. And he wants Banner back in his life.

Some people may not like some of the choices both Banner and Jared make but that's what makes this book real to me. The real world isn't all roses & rainbows. Things don't always turn out how we want them to but their story ended perfectly for me! Everything worked out for the best!

I loved the Bonus Epilogue too! This is where I swooned hardcore for Jared! It completed the story in such an awesome way!

I could write so much more about this book BUT I don't want to give anything away. If I dive deeper, I will definitely end up spoiling it.

I would definitely recommend Block Shot!
