Review: The Silent Corner by Dean Koontz

December 22, 2017

From #1 New York Times bestselling author of dark psychological suspense and modern classics of mystery and adventure comes a thriller that ventures into science, secrecy and danger.

“I very much need to be dead.”

These are the chilling words left behind by a man who had everything to live for—but took his own life. In the aftermath, his widow, Jane Hawk, does what all her grief, fear, and fury demand: find the truth, no matter what.

People of talent and accomplishment, people admired and happy and sound of mind, have been committing suicide in surprising numbers. When Jane seeks to learn why, she becomes the most-wanted fugitive in America. Her powerful enemies are protecting a secret so important—so terrifying—that they will exterminate anyone in their way.

But all their power and viciousness may not be enough to stop a woman as clever as they are cold-blooded, as relentless as they are ruthless—and who is driven by a righteous rage they can never comprehend. Because it is born of love.

**** 4 Star Review ****

This was my first Dean Koontz book. I wasn't sure what I was expecting when I picked this book up. I was hoping for some suspense, along with some twists and turns.

I was a little confused and thrown off with some of the complexity of this story in the beginning. Once things got moving for me, I was seeing things falling into place. The science fiction part of this book made it that much more interesting.

I was on the edge of my seat in many parts, but then a little bored in others. This book went from captivating to slow-moving a little more than I liked. However, I kept it moving. As the plot thickened, I found myself anticipating the ending of the story.

Once I finally made it to the end, I was left ready for the next book. I couldn't wait to see how Dean was going to wrap up this mind-bending story of betrayal and revenge.
