The Wrong Prince Charming by Holly Renee

July 16, 2019

Every little girl dreams of being swept off her feet by a charming Prince.

But my life was no fairy tale.

And in this kingdom called college, the rules went out the window.

I’d known golden boy, Theo Hunt, was the one for me since we were kids. My heart was his for the taking, but I had become nothing more than the MVP of the campus king’s friend-zone.

Easton Cole was a storm I couldn’t have predicted. He knocked me off my feet and stole my heart. But he was off limits. Not only was he was Theo’s frat brother, but he was the teacher’s assistant in English 101 and I was acing every test.

My heart was torn, my feelings tangled.

Because as soon as I noticed Easton, Theo finally noticed me.

I was in love with two guys, as different as night and day, but I could only have one.

I only hoped I didn’t choose The Wrong Prince Charming.

I went into this book blind. I saw the author had a new book coming, and I wanted to read it. It quickly became evident there was going to be a bit of a love triangle. I rubbed my hands together, a little excited for it. However, I was a little apprehensive because love triangles are tricky and not always written well.

The book started out okay. We are introduced to the cast quite quickly. But then, the rest of the book felt like a rush. I couldn't connect to the characters, and I didn't feel any real connections with them. It was hard for me to jump on board and pick a person.

If I am being absolutely honest... while reading this book, I felt a couple of small deja vu moments. There are some aspects of this book that felt like a mixture of two older love triangle books from back in the day. The difference is, those books were longer and gave you a better all over connection. This felt too close to other books for me. It wasn't original and didn't stand out to me.

Overall, I wouldn't say this was a bad book. It is a decent story but too under-developed for such a story it is meant to be. I would say it's just okay.
